Bombay: In another theft incident, Rs 15 lakh was looted from the office of a courier agency on Thursday by two gunmen. The incident took place in the Kalbadevi district of Maharashtra’s capital, Mumbai.
The accused threatened the courier workers at gunpoint and stole the amount, police from LT Marg Police Station said.
The armed thieves forced the staff to open the lockers and fled with the money.
Police said by the time staff were able to press the alarm, the thieves had fled.
In another incident on July 11, a 28-year-old man was charged with robbing railway passengers who were traveling on the Konkan railway line. The accused has been identified as Nikhil Kumar Narayan, originally from Kerala and remained in Goa.
The man mainly stole cell phones and also targeted people traveling in the reserved compartments. The cops, during the investigation, recovered bracelets, 10 mobile phones worth Rs 2.01 lakh in his possession.
The accused was a repeat offender and had also dropped out of college. He has been detained in similar cases of theft in Ratnagiri and Goa.
